Boynton Yards
Boynton Yards
Boynton Yards is a 1.8 million square foot mixed-use biotech development in Somerville, Massachusetts. Consisting of lab/office space, apartments, an arts/community center, and over two acres of public green space, the Boynton Yards campus needed signage and wayfinding for all publicly accessible spaces. Leggat McCall engaged OverUnder to develop a spatial language originated by Upstatement.
The simple B&W palette and bouncing graphics have been deployed in a number of ways to establish place and to direct visitors. Building 1 features a chamfered 101 SOUTH canopy sign that is internally lit with color-changing LEDs, raised metal letters throughout the ground floor and parking garage, patterned walls at the garage entry, and a custom transit display in the lobby that's also moveable.
We also developed a brand identity and signage for the building's cafe Firefly.
