Boston Adult Education
The feasibility study of the Re-Engagement Center (REC) and Adult Education (Adult-Ed) builds upon the Madison Park Technical Vocational High School Feasibility Study of the Malcolm X Boulevard Campus for Boston Public Schools (BPS). Mark Pasnik’s experience instructing five studios at Wentworth Institute of Technology focusing on the site gave OverUnder a deep understanding with the Marcel Breuer brutalist project.
OverUnder engaged the REC and Adult-Ed communities to gain a better understanding of the operational, programmatic, and spatial needs of the programs, which included classrooms, labs, office suites, administrative areas, and wrap-around services. The engagement process included multiple visoning sessions, interviews, site visits, and digital survey. This team then examined the best future location for them, with a strong preference for staying on campus if the available space meets their needs. Three test-fit options were priced as a rough order of magnitude exercise to assist the City of Boston in setting a construction budget for this part of the larger campus project.
