The Hemisfair District, which has a long and rich history dating back to San Antonio’s origins, will soon become a major destination for experiencing art and cultural programs in what is now the city’s urban core. The newly expanded public art program will reflect San Antonio’s identity as a twenty-first century city with a global perspective. The Hemisfair Art Master Plan provides a guide for developing this site into an active and energetic setting for residents, visitors, artists, and businesses—establishing “a new confluence of cultures” enriched by green spaces, plazas, bustling avenues, and public art converging to create a vibrant shared urban life.
