Boynton Yards is a 1.8 million square foot mixed-use biotech development in Somerville, MA. Consisting of lab/office space, apartments, an arts/community center, and over two acres of public green space, the Boynton Yards campus needed signage and wayfinding for all publicly accessible spaces. Leggat McCall engaged OverUnder to develop a spatial language originated by Upstatement.

The simple B&W palette and "boing" graphics have been deployed in a number of ways to establish place and to direct visitors. Building 1 features a chamfered "101 South" canopy sign that is internally lit with color-changing LEDs; raised metal letters throughout the ground floor and parking garage; patterned walls at the garage entry; and a custom transit display in the lobby that's moveable.

Building 2 at 808 Windsor is in construction and slated to open in early 2024. OverUnder is also developing exterior wayfinding along and through the BY campus.
