Status | Proposals Completed Winter 2020 |
During the winter months of 2020, OverUnder pursued several proposals for warming huts—structures traditionally used for shelter from winter storms in remote areas. Each proposal reflects and responds to a central dilemma during the COVID-19 pandemic: the desire to be together while remaining safely apart.
Constructed with off-the-shelf materials, the huts are intended for easy assembly and deployment. The structure of PVC pipes and fittings recalls oft-hidden but essential plumbing and mechanical systems, now encased in diaphanous pillow cases of decorative netting. The combination elevates these banal materials, while the overall forms appears to blend into wintry landscapes.
