OverUnder and West Work were commissioned through a University of Massachusetts Boston house doctor contract to upgrade the existing women’s softball field to the level of the men’s baseball field as part of a Title IX compliance effort. Currently in the bidding phase, the project includes new dugouts, stands, press box, lighting, and field, along with additional landscape elements to integrate the field with the surrounding campus. A perforated metal scrim wraps the grandstands with etherial imagery of athletes in motion, developing a sense of place and identity for the softball team’s home field and the entrance to athletics.
